So what do you guys think? Is slime here to stay?! Or will it be a thing of 2017?! I’m not entirely sure, but we thought we would end the year with a bang, and make some cool, sparkly, clear glitter slime. There are so many versions out there, and so many recipes. But so far, this is the best recipe I’ve found from Little Bins Little Hands. With a little tweak here and there, we finally found the perfect, no-fail slime.
And look how pretty and sparkly it is. Or should I say, how gooey and slime-y it is…?
I found these specific glitter bottles from the target dollar section during Christmas. Originally, we were going to make some Christmas slime with it, but things got busy and too crazy – (you know how it goes), and so we thought, once everything settled, why not make it into a ‘celebrate New Year’s Slime?’

For similar glitter you can get some here.
Otherwise, you can probably find something like it at Target or Michael’s.
I love this recipe because it only requires 5 ingredients. All of which you might already have at home.
Clear Glue.
Glitter.
Water.
Baking Soda.
And Contact Lens Solution. (Make sure the contact lens solution contains boric acid and sodium borate.)
The consistency is perfect every time. Which I love, because I think we’ve all tried making slime one time or another and it’s been a total disappointing fail and disaster. Am I right? Too sticky, too runny, not slimy enough… We’ve all been there. But trust me, this recipe does not disappoint.
I’m starting to get this whole slime thing. It’s squishy and soothing. Total sensory and addicting. And the idea that you can make it at home is kind of amazing. My daughter loved this clear glitter slime. She literally played with it for hours. You can also switch it up by adding some food coloring or different kinds of glitter. The options are endless! But I love these glittery colors for a fun New Year’s activity for kids. AND with that being said – Happy New Year’s, everybody!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of Clear Glue.
- 1/2 cup of water.
- 1 tsp of baking soda.
- 1 tbsp plus 1/2 tsp of contact lens solution.
- Glitter. (We put in a lot of glitter for an extra sparkly look, but less is more if you want to make sure the glitter doesn't shed if you are using chunky glitter. For fine glitter, you can be generous with the amount.)
Instructions
- In a small mixing bowl pour in the glue, water and glitter and mix.
- Then add in the baking soda.
- Follow with the contact lens solution.
- Mix well with a spoon or craft stick until sticky.
- Then get in there with your hands and work the slime until it becomes perfect slime consistency and not sticky.
- Enjoy!
