‘Tis the season for dry skin. And DIY gifts for neighbors and friends. I’ve decided to combat both this year by making some of these: Homemade, peppermint, coconut oil, sugar scrub.
I’ve made DIY hot cocoa jars, Anthropologie-inspired snow globe jars and peppermint bark a few years back. But this peppermint coconut oil sugar scrub is my favorite DIY gift so far. Because it’s super easy to make, looks simple and pretty and smells absolutely divine! AND, it leaves your body feeling amazingly soft and smooth.

Did I mention they’re also super easy to make? After making these, I really can’t believe how people spend $$$ on coconut oil sugar scrubs at the store. Especially because these are, in my humble opinion, just as good, if not better.
All you need are 3 ingredients:
organic unrefined virgin coconut oil
organic coarse cane sugar
100% pure peppermint oil
And glass jars.
I bought these ones at IKEA. I like the hinge look on them. But any glass jar with a secure lid will do. Mason jars are great and you can also reuse jam jars.
I then tied the top of the jars with some bakers twine and a cute do not open gift tag.
I fiddled around with the measurements and decided a cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of oil is perfect. With around 10 drops of peppermint oil. All you have to do is melt the coconut oil on low and let it cool. Then pour on top of the sugar, add the drops of oil and mix.
Tada! Done. The peppermint oil is probably the most expensive thing on the list, but it will last you a long time. I made one of these for all my neighbors and girlfriends last year. I’m thinking of making some for my mom this year since she will be here in LA this Christmas. I’m thinking for the spring I’ll change up my scrub with lemon. But I do love Christmas season. After Halloween, Christmas is a close second for my favorite time of year! What DIY plans do you all have this Christmas?
I’m also planning on eating cookies for breakfast. Real ones, not breakfast cookies. And stringing popcorn with my little one. Putting candy canes in tiny vases around the house beside sprigs of pine. And listening to Christmas music all day long.
Yay for December!
